Individual coaching also places a high emphasis on safely crossing the bar. Coaching instills essential techniques for planning bar crossings around safe tide and swell conditions, ensuring that students understand the subleties, and know when to go, and when to stay home.
Coaching that fits Your Schedule
The one-hour coaching sessions are on Zoom, and scheduled at times that work for you. A typical coaching package includes six one-hour sessions, scheduled about a week apart.
I use lots of videos, pictures, charts, stories and graphics to bring the material to life. You’ll get custom notes after every session.
I strongly encourage students to include family members and friends in coaching. This gives you multiple co-captains, and backup on the water. The Zoom format allows your group members to log in from anywhere.
What You’ll Learn
You’ll learn how to safely plan trips for your boat, in your waters. You’ll learn where to find the best forecasts, how to judge conditions, and how to decide when it’s safe to go.
You’ll learn how to plan bar crossings around swell and tide conditions. And you’ll learn how to handle a rough bar or inlet in the unlikely event you get caught on one.
You’ll learn how to estimate positions, courses and travel times in your head, as proper mariners have for centuries. And you’ll learn the most advanced GPS navigation.
Whether you own a typical 22 foot outboard, a kayak, a 40 foot cruiser or a surf-launched dory, the lessons will be tailored 100% to you and your boat.
Unlimited Support
You’ll get unlimited phone, text and email support, so your questions never go unanswered. This support continues for 12 months, so you’ll get all the help you need through a boating season.
Your Investment
The Cost is $1,900 for the complete customized coaching program. Additional persons can join as full participants for an extra $200 per person.
